I remember… smacking the ball soundly. Briefly watching it soar into the outfield before tossing the bat, running hard to first, over running it looking out field to see who has the ball . Timing was everything.
Seeing no one had the ball I would pick up speed and run to second. A gave a quick glance over the shoulder before chancing a run to third. By then the ball is usually in play. The decision to go all the way home is split second. Most professional ball players rely on a well executed slide. Touching base with a toe, a foot, or most of the lower body before a ball held glove. Exhilarating!
I view my seven day week similarly. Going about the daily routines and such. Ending at Sunday. There are some Sundays you walk to, some Sundays you run to, and some you slide into and say I made it!
Monday comes and I review the past weeks play and grab the bat and give it another whack.
